Egypt’s football association has filed a formal complaint against the match official following their encounter with Argentina. According to BBC, Egypt has officially requested the suspension of the referee involved, citing alleged errors during the competition.
The match, part of the qualification round for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, concluded with a defeat for Egypt. The Egyptian football association contends that the referee made critical decisions that were deemed incorrect during the fixture.
According to BBC, Egypt has submitted a formal objection to the international football governing body. The association argues that the official’s performance did not meet required standards and has requested an investigation into the referee’s future assignment in official matches.
The Argentine football association has not yet issued an official response to the complaint. A spokesperson for the Egyptian federation could not be reached for immediate further comment.
