Curaçao Beaches — Complete Guide to All 35

CURAÇAO BEACHES

From secluded coves to lively beach clubs — the complete guide to Curaçao’s 35 stunning beaches.

🏖️ The Best Beaches in Curaçao

1. Cas Abao Beach

Often ranked the #1 beach on the island. White sand, calm turquoise water, palapas, showers, restaurant, and excellent snorkeling right off the shore. Entrance fee applies — worth every cent. Located on the western coast, about 30 minutes from Willemstad.

2. Kenepa Grandi (Grote Knip)

The most iconic beach in Curaçao. Bright white sand framed by dramatic limestone cliffs. Locals jump from the cliff into the deep blue water. Free entry, but no facilities — bring your own supplies. Located in the far west.

3. Kenepa Chikí (Kleine Knip)

The smaller, quieter sister to Grote Knip. Same crystal water, less crowd. Perfect for a peaceful swim and snorkel session.

4. Playa Porto Mari

Double-reef snorkeling — you can swim between two coral reefs from the beach. Fees apply, but includes beach chairs and restrooms. Home to a small population of friendly pigs that occasionally wander onto the sand.

5. Mambo Beach

The nightlife beach. Restaurants, bars, shops, and Sea Aquarium all in one complex. Family-friendly by day, party central at night. Located just outside Willemstad.

6. Playa Kalki

The westernmost beach on the island. A diver’s paradise — the famous “Alice in Wonderland” dive site is directly offshore. Calm water, moderate crowds, restaurant on-site.

7. Playa Lagun

A small, protected cove tucked between towering cliffs. Home to green sea turtles that come close to shore. One of the best snorkel beaches on the island.

8. Playa Piskadó (Playa Grandi)

A working fishing beach where sea turtles gather to feed on the scraps. Snorkel with turtles almost guaranteed — bring goggles and be respectful.

9. Klein Curaçao

An uninhabited island off the southeast coast. Reached only by boat trip. White sand, turquoise water, a lighthouse, and a shipwreck to explore. Full-day excursions from $95 pp.

10. Jan Thiel Beach

A resort-style beach with restaurants, water sports, and cabanas. Great for families and travelers who want everything at their fingertips.

💡 Beach Tips for Visitors

  • Rent a car: Many best beaches are on the west coast, 45+ minutes from Willemstad. Public transport doesn’t reach them.
  • Bring cash: Some beaches charge entrance fees ($3-6). Cards not always accepted.
  • Reef-safe sunscreen only: Regular sunscreen damages the coral. Reef-safe versions are widely available on the island.
  • Snorkel gear: You can rent at most beaches, but bringing your own is cheaper for a longer trip.
  • Sun protection: The Caribbean sun is intense. Bring shade if beaches without palapas.
  • Turtle etiquette: Never touch or feed the turtles. Keep a respectful distance.

🏨 Stay Near the Best Beaches
