WILLEMSTAD — FIFA has rebuked Morocco following statements by the North African nation claiming it will host the final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

According to Al Jazeera, FIFA stated that such claims are premature and that the selection process for the tournament’s host countries remains ongoing. The world football governing body emphasized that formal decisions regarding the organization of the final match have not yet been determined.

Morocco submitted a candidacy for hosting the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Spain. The North African nation has previously expressed interest in hosting other editions of the global tournament.

FIFA’s procedure for awarding host nations follows an established protocol in which various countries may declare their interest. The final decision on which nation or nations will organize the tournament is made by the FIFA Congress.

FIFA’s statement underscores that the selection of the host nation for 2030 remains in an early phase and that premature declarations by candidate nations do not align with the official process established by the football federation.
